How to Build a Thriving High-Ticket Business

with Fewer Than 1,000 Followers (Yes, Really.)

If you’ve ever found yourself doom-scrolling through an endless parade of coaches with massive followings while simultaneously Googling “how to attract coaching clients with a small following”,  and then secretly wondering if you should just drain your savings buying followers or start awkwardly pointing at text bubbles in reels… take a deep, cleansing breath.

You’re not alone.

And more importantly, you are not broken.

You’re just caught playing someone else’s exhausting, ineffective game by rules designed to keep you small.

The high-ticket game has exactly two non-negotiable rules:

  1. Only work with deeply committed buyers.
  2. Make them prove their commitment first. (Spoiler: this doesn’t happen with a free PDF.)

There’s this infuriating myth that buzzes around the online business world like a cheap perfume you can’t escape: that more followers = more money. As if the moment your Instagram ticks over to 10k, five-figure clients magically materialize in your inbox, begging to throw money at you. I know how much most want to believe this, but I also know you are smart enough to know it is BS.

If you’re trying to build a sustainable high-ticket coaching business by chasing follower counts, you’re building a sandcastle at high tide. Your follower count is mostly a vanity metric. A distraction. You don’t need 10,000 passive scrollers watching your stories with the sound off; you need 10 truly committed buyers a year to hit six figures with a $10k offer.

That’s it. That’s the tweet.

Just TEN, not a thousand. Not even a hundred. TEN. And anyone can learn how to sell ten 10k offers per year.

But we’ve been so conditioned by the “influencer industrial complex” to believe we need a massive “platform” before we deserve to sell premium, that we’ve forgotten what business we’re actually in.

You’re not here to be an influencer (unless you want to be). You’re not just a “content creator.” You don’t sling low-ticket digital dust bunnies. You are a high-ticket coach. A guide. Your primary job isn’t to be universally popular; it’s to be life-changing for the right few.

True story (and a bit of a mic drop): some of my clients who boast tens, even hundreds, of thousands of followers initially had a harder time signing actual high-ticket clients than those with tiny, engaged audiences. Why? Because your ideal premium client isn’t looking for a coach who’s trying to be everything to everyone. Your small, curated audience is not a liability, my friend. It’s a superpower.

So here’s the real problem: it’s not your follower count. It’s that you’re likely trying to sell profound, expensive transformation to virtual strangers who haven’t had a single, meaningful, value-driven experience with you yet. You’re essentially asking someone to marry you after a polite nod across a crowded room. Would you invest five or six figures into someone whose most consistent online interaction with you has been a fleeting “like” and maybe a cat meme? Exactly.

I’ll be crystal clear: I don’t sign my high-ticket clients directly from DMs filled with emojis or from random comments on a post. Not because I can’t, but because I won’t. I don’t chase. I don’t endlessly convince. I don’t try to close strangers on the internet like I’m hawking timeshares at a budget airport terminal.

Why this firm stance? Because genuine high-ticket clients need to experience the essence of your work before they’ll ever dream of investing deeply. They need to feel a tangible shift in their body when they engage with you. They need to get a glimpse into how your brilliant brain works. They need to hear something you say or see something you do that makes them put down their organic matcha latte and whisper, “Damn. That was for me.”

This is precisely why your high-ticket business needs a strategy that ruthlessly filters for commitment, not just fleeting curiosity. I teach my clients to lead with what I call a “Painkiller Offer”: something that dives straight into their ideal buyer’s most pressing, perceived problem and delivers a potent dose of relief. Think: a strategic, paid workshop, an intimate challenge, a high-value training that lands with such pinpoint accuracy it feels like you’ve psychically downloaded their deepest frustrations. And no, it’s definitely not free. There must be an initial willingness to invest, a sign they’re ready to move beyond passive consumption.

Because selling high-ticket isn’t about clever content, trending audios, or having the most “aesthetic” feed. It’s about creating an emotional and psychological readiness in the right person to say a resounding “HELL YES” to their own transformation, with you as their guide. And that profound readiness, my friend, doesn’t blossom in the shallow soil of Instagram comments.

In fact, here’s a secret most won’t tell you: you don’t even really need to “sell” in the traditional, pushy sense. Your ideal high-ticket client often already knows she wants to invest in a premium solution to her problem. She’s actively out there, scanning the horizon, just trying to find her most trustworthy, competent “dealer” of that transformation. In many ways, high-ticket sales are the simplest of all because the core decision – “I need this level of help” – is often already made in their mind. Your only job is to clearly, confidently, and authentically demonstrate that investing thousands in you is the smartest, safest, and most powerful decision she can make for herself right now.

The beautiful part? You can design, sell, and deliver a $10k+ program in virtually any online coaching niche. Mindset. Business. Health. Relationships. It doesn’t matter. What matters is that you understand how to architect and deliver genuine transformation, and that you possess the know-how to lead your ideal potential clients on an intentional buying journey – one that guides them through a valuable experience, not just hoping they’ll go viral from some random hot take.

Look, I’m not anti-social media. It’s a useful tool. But it’s just that: a tool. And let’s be honest, often not a very reliable or strategic one for deep connection. It is definitely not a robust business model, especially when you have 863 followers, half of whom are your well-meaning old college roommates and one very confused great-uncle who still thinks Instagram is for cat pictures.

So, if you’re bone-tired of tap-dancing for the algorithm, of watching people with “aesthetically pleasing” feeds rake in surface-level engagement while you’re over there pouring out actual, life-changing wisdom into the void… consider this your official, gold-embossed permission slip to step off that exhausting hamster wheel.

You don’t need 10,000 followers. You need 10 deeply resonant, committed ideal clients (PER YEAR!) who see your genius, trust your guidance, and are ready to invest. Focus your precious energy on that. Build a streamlined, intelligent system around that. Lead with your authentic, inside-out magic. And show up every single day as The High-Ticket Woman you already are – the one who intimately knows her worth, powerfully owns her unique message, and calls in her dream clients from a place of unshakeable power, not quiet panic.

And if a little voice inside is whispering, “But Petra, I want so much more than just 10 clients! I’m aiming for a $500k year, a million-dollar empire!” Fantastic. I love that ambition for you. Do it. But how about we first laser-focus on mastering the art and science of attracting those first 10 high-ticket clients at $10k+? Because once you nail that, scaling to any number becomes an exciting probability, not a distant dream.

The real secret isn’t more content or more followers. It’s deeper positioning, smarter strategy, and better conversations that lead to committed action.

Need clear signs you’re ready to ditch the follower chase and embrace this potent, more direct approach?

  • You’re utterly exhausted from posting into the digital void, feeling like your best work goes unnoticed.
  • You’ve made a blood-oath to yourself that you will never discount your profound worth again.
  • You’d rather have 10 perfect-fit, all-in clients than 100 lukewarm “maybes” (or, let’s be real, none at all).

If that’s you, then becoming The High-Ticket Woman who sells her premium offers consistently and predictably isn’t just a wish, it’s your next logical evolution. And the easiest way to start this journey is by reading my book “She Sells High-Ticket”. Scroll down and grab your copy.
